Eritrean Democratic Alliance starts closed sessions in Khartoum

April26, 2006(KHARTOUM)-The Eritrean Democratic Alliance(EDA) which has opened its meeting yesterday evening  amid an unprecedented turn out, in the history of meetings of the EDA-  has already begun this morning its closed sessions, according Ali Sulieman, Deputy Chairman of  the Supreme Council of the EDA. The Eritrean Democratic Alliance (EDA) opened its meeting yesterday in the presence of almost all Eritrean political figures, various media people, and representative of civil society organizations as well as Sanna Assembly for Cooperation.

The Chairman of the Supreme Council of the EDABerhane Henjma begun the opening session in an address he has called on all Eritrean political powers to cooperate for enhancing the joint work. He has called on members of the Sanna Assembly for Cooperation for more support; attributing the failure of implementing the work plan to the lack and shortage of support asserting t hat the  Eritrean Democratic Alliance would keep on working hard to accomplish t he hopes of  t he Eritrean people.

The chairman of the Executive  Office of the Eritrean Democratic Alliance   pointed out , in his speech, the  achievements of the  EDA over the last period; adding t hat the EDA has been established as  a substitute for the Dictator regime  in Eritrea  for instituting a democratic state in which citizens enjoy equality,  justice and  stability. He added t hat the presence of a democratic system in Eritrea would be reflected in a positive way to the neighboring countries; calling open the members of the alliance for more openness to admit the other Eritrean political powers in order t o establish an inclusive body.

The Representative of the Ethiopian government Hibur Gibre Kidan, member of the Political Bureau of the ruling party in Ethiopia declared, in t he   speech he delivered at the opening session of the meeting, the absolute support of his government for the EDA and all Eritrean political powers. He said that his country is ready for establishing strategic relations with the EDA in all areas; elaborating the relations of the two countries.

He vowed that his government would enhance its relations with the EDA and other Eritrean political powers to make true the hopes of the Eritrean people in establishing a democratic state.

Representative of the Sudanese government renewed t he support of his government for the Eritrean people; appreciating the dialogue spirits which are witnessed in t he Eritrean political arena among the political powers. He expressed that the desire of his country to expand t he EDA to include all Eritrean political powers.
